A great day out for all.
A large gathering of ISC 800’s headed out on saturday morning for some back to back racing.
3 informal races were held with everyone having great fun.
The helm crew combinations varied throughout the day so evreyone got to have a go. The sun was out and the wind just strong enough to get planning downwind.
The Gardeners then hosted a fantastic BBQ in the evening with the kids making use of the pool and trampoline.
More photos to follow shortly.

Update
The 800’s have really taken off at ISC with a solid regular turnout for Saturday racing of six boats.
The Regatta turnout was hampered due to some damage during fed week and would have been up to eight boats had this not occured.
We have at least another couple of boats due to join before the end of the season which should make for some great racing, in hopefully more consistence Autumn weather!
The RS800 portion of the Haines Cup race was led by the Woods A team of Adrian and Matt, followed by bay and Nick in a comprehensive display of how their early season trip to Minorca has paid dividends. We are still looking for a full report from Woods B on their whole Garda experience!
The afternoon race was lead by a TISC boat and we hope future tie ups can be arranged with them to increase racing fleet size further.
Next Race
Saturday 3th @ 1.50PM. Call or email Adrian for confirmation of start Time. Looks like a good turnout!
Social
Nick Gardener has kindly volenteered his house for the first of the Autum socials on the 20th September. It is also a pool party so bring your kit for a cool down straight after racing! Details direct from Nick.
A further dinner at the club due before the end of the season.
The third race was held in very mixed conditions on the first Saturday of August. The course entailed a full tour of high water marks around the harbour.
The largest outing to date included Adrian and Mat Woods, Rob Barnes and Seb Chilvers, The Smyths’, and Nick and Bay.
The start provided much excitement and amusement as the Port tacking boat took out the RS boat sending them into a spin. The wind then died leaving all boats struggling to cross the line with no forward motion for steerage.
The Smyths’ took advantage out of the situation and led off to the first mark with the other trailing after several attempts to get moving.
They held this lead to South West Pilsey after which the downhill ride lead to this lead being eroded by the Woods. Barnes & Chilvers used their old junior fortnight knowledge to pull back through the fleet into the mix although the lack of a course card had confusion over the need to gybe past Heathrow. The leg back too Heathrow (AKA Runway) was lost on them and a couple of capsizes added to the loss of direction.
By the last leg back to the finish the wind had gusted to twenty knots and the Woods had finally pulled ahead with the Smyths’ third. The remaining two boats were out of enthusiasm for further tours of the harbour and retired.
The Next race will be an informal day to East Head – details to be confirmed by Adrian.
Race 2 was held in moderate breeze. The lead was held at points by Neil and Conrad but eventually won by Adrian and Mat Woods.
1140 Sherekhanage 2
1141 Murphy 3
1143 Adrian Woods 1

Dear sailors,
The RS demo boat is getting to the end of its run at ISC. If you are interested in having a sail before it goes back call 0777 7664 8625 or email robbarnes74@gmail.com.
Many thanks

Demo’s of the RS 800 are going well with another two boats committed to join the ISC RS 800 before the end of the 2008 season. We look forward to the new boats joining us which will create a fleet well in excess of the initial target of ten.
Feedback has been extremely positive from all of those who have tried the boat to date.
The boat is easier to tack and gybe than a Laser 4000 but a lot, lot quicker above 8 knots of wind. The carbon rig makes boat handling a lot easier to complete to complement the simple rig controls. The challenge of twin wiring is obviously going to take a little while longer to master but the rewards are much greater in terms of smiles!
If anyone wants to get a flavour of the ISC RS 800 demo boat please contact me on 0777 764 8625 or robbarnes74@gmail.com for further information.
The RS 800 demo boat is due to arrive this Saturday and will stay until she is sold to someone at the club! She will be out racing as well for fun in the meantime.
Our local Olympic star is due to take her for the first spin at ISC and a line has already formed for the next ride. Please book up early to avoid disappointment.
There are a number of options to join the fleet (crewing and second hand boats from £3,500 so just ask if you see us or ask below. We will be the ones with big smiles!
If you are interested in a spin please call/text me on 07818 452 597 or email rbarnes@vailwilliams.com or adrian@woods.co.uk
Kind regards
Rob Barnes
Bay has passed on this link which should be useful. Also worth investing in the higher and faster DVD for technique.
